May 2, 1926

Sun., 2  A warm beautiful day. Thunder showers toward night, but they do not strike us. Grace attends church. Karl, Henrietta & Warner come to dinner. Karl is all to pieces because he has a father in Windsor. It would be better if the old Devil-skin was in for life–not half so hard for his children to bear, as his disgraceful scraps. Write the children.

Windsor was/is Vermont’s State Prison.  For more about Hosea Field, see the Satterly diary.
