Thurs., 3 10 below zero this morning. Our first real winter morning & the ground white with snow. Dumas has a big wash & cannot hang them all out because of the high cold wind. Two insurance men call on Helen. One from Burlington in the morning & one from Rutland in the afternoon. She makes a nice apple-sauce cake. Mr. Crighton calls & tells me about the old brick schoolhouse they are repairing. Mend on stockings.
