May 30, 1929

Thurs., 30  Cora Barron dies to-day. Decoration Day. Ashton & Hattie up early. They get started for the Cottage around 7 A.M. Get most of the morning devotions after which I go with Tuttle & place flowers on our 2 graves. Some others have been before us in bringing flowers to their graves, and all the little flags are waving over the soldier’s (sic) graves. Dumas does up the work & cleans the dining room. Very hot, which brings a pause in Grace’s trade. Karl & Henrietta come in a few minutes at night. Mr. & Mrs. Robinson sleep out “near the garage.”

Here, thanks to the Vergennes Historical Society, is a photo of the Cottage as it was. It is no more.
