Sat., 13  Morning devotions. Ruth makes pies, gets dinner, also picks currants & makes jell. (sic)  I do a little mending. Send a letter to Tute Royce. Henrietta comes in the afternoon. She & Grace go to the Cottage. Rain. The lightning strikes a pine tree near Karl’s land, which burns all night.
