December 28, 1929

Sat., 28  Cloudy. Eagan finishes the chimney. I write Gertrude & Ben. He comes in just as I get his letter finished. Sorrel looks over things. Howard working. Grace goes to a card party. I eat dinner with the family & stay downstairs. Have a fire in the kitchen stove for the first time since Christmas to-night. Ben comes. He sleeps in the remnant of his room in the dust & dirt.
