January 26, 1932 & “Vermont” poem, typed

Tues. 26  Morning devotions.  Have a lovely night’s sleep.  Do a little typing, look over manuscript. Grace goes down town afternoon. Do the morning work. Am thinking much about the 29th and the farm house which I picture in the snow drifts of an old fashioned Vermont winter when Grandfather, Grandmother and Aunt Frank were interested in the new comer 79 years ago.  They and the mother and father of the child, have all gone into the silence. Write Helen Fisher & Helen Simonds.

Ella’s birthday is the 29th of January, so this is in anticipation. Here is the poem “Vermont” which she typed out. The “parkway” she writes about here was a planned road across the spine of the Green Mountains, like the Blue Ridge Parkway. It didn’t happen. Thanks to the Vergennes Historical Society and Susan Ferland.
