Sat., 19  Morning devotions. Dumas doing the work & finishing the ironing. Make an apple pie for tomorrow. Have a long nap after dinner, read the papers, mend a little. Clean & cook a chicken. Working on a poem. Snows hard during the morning but warms up in the afternoon. Letters from Gertrude & Anna. Also the Editor. The “bird” still with us. Warner comes to stay with us to-night while his parents go to some function with the Devines.
